For many the 1980’s era TV show, The Dukes-of-Hazzard was just that, a TV show. That aired Friday nights on CBS TV. However for me the Dukes, the cast and the Hazzard way of life became my saving grace. In ways one can’t even imagine.

In 1981, a derelict Dodge Charger was found in Paul Idaho. The car was bought , hauled to Hagerman Idaho 54 miles west, and transformed into the illustrious General Lee. This opened a door that never as hard as I have tried to, but never closed.

When the car came to Hagerman and after it appeared in Custom Rodder Magazine February 1982, Hagerman got and has proudly held the nick name Hazzard Idaho. And is happy that name has made the town a celebrity in its own right.

Shortly after the car got to the shop, a call to Warner Brothers Studios, talked to a cat named Skip Ward there who was a executive producer on the show, and us and the show became one.

In late 1982, 10 rambunctious gearheads met at a place called the Polish Palace that became the Boars Nest, and organized a sort of unofficial Dukes fan club combined with a grass roots home grown custom truck, car, aircraft you name it club. What started with 10, has become 250,000 around the world. But it all took work.

Although the character Cooter has been played, by 3 others in real life, I truly became Crazy Cooter of the real Hazzard, and of the real Hazzard Garage.

In 1983, my Mom passed away, the day b4 the funeral of my mom in March that year a group call from the cast of the Dukes giving me their condolences and the fact that John, Tom, Kathy , Skip Ward, and Uncle Jessie came to that funeral, and all rode to that service in my General Lee. If there ever was a unification between a TV show and a fan it was me with the Dukes.

When Executive Producer Paul Picard , was near his passing, I was there. I promised him that I would keep his and Gy Waldron’s vision alive until I passed away.

Okay then, saw on a Twitter posting that Salina Gomez was a follower on said Twitter of mine. Which is good, but a local Hazzard Knytes member said, if they were going to do up the Dukes series again, that Salina Gomez would make a great Daisy.

I still think April Scott did a helluva job, as Daisy on the Dukes Beginnings, and the push to get a studio, and money to get the series running again, is under way, my vote for Salina is for Daisy. What do ya’ll think?

Then too could the Dukes be reborn? Or would it be better to create another show based on the Dukes, called, (What Else?) Hazzard Knytes, based on our club.

Now for the mentally challenged out there,
